The Physical Anchor.
A blockchain record is only as secure as its link to the physical world. We use military-grade, cryptographically secure NFC technology to forge an unbreakable bond.
Standard NFC vs. DNA NFC
Standard NFC tags (like those used in Amiibos or simple tap-to-pay setups) just broadcast a static string of text (a URL). Anyone can buy a blank tag and program it to broadcast the exact same URL, cloning the tag perfectly.
AutographChain utilizes NTAG 424 DNA tags. These contain a secure cryptographic chip.
Dynamic URL Generation
Every time you tap an AutographChain tag, it generates a unique URL containing a Cryptographic Message Authentication Code (CMAC). This code changes on every tap based on a secret key securely stored in the chip's hardware.
If a counterfeiter intercepts the URL and puts it on a fake tag, our servers will reject it because the CMAC will be instantly stale or mathematically invalid for that specific tap counter.

Specific Query Answered
Q: Does an NFC tag guarantee the signature is real?
A: No technology can perform the initial expert human appraisal. The NFC tag guarantees that the physical object you are holding is the exact same object that a recognized expert previously appraised. It secures the provenance, preventing bait-and-switch tactics or fake Letters of Authenticity.
